FAQs
At EF Adventures, you can choose between three styles of travel: Biking, Hiking & Walking, and Multi-Adventure—all of which combine physically active experiences with cultural immersion.
Our Biking tours, crafted in collaboration with the EF pro cycling team, wind through sun-drenched Spanish coastlines, past French châteaux, and over rolling Italian hills. With a range of bike options to suit your style—from high-performance road bikes to easy-riding e-bikes—we help every cyclist find their perfect match.
For those who prefer to explore on foot, our Hiking & Walking tours will take you to new heights—from the majestic Alps and Dolomites to the mystical paths of Bhutan and Peru. Whether you're a summit-seeker or a scenic stroller, your perfect outdoor escape awaits.
If you're looking for a diverse range of activities, our Multi-Adventure tours might be perfect. From the lush rainforests of Costa Rica to the dramatic landscapes of Iceland, you'll hike, bike, raft, kayak, snorkel, zipline, and find balance with yoga. Experience the thrill of doing it all in the world's most sought-after adventure travel destinations.

Our tours cater to a range of fitness levels, with five different physical activity categories ranging from Leisurely to Advanced. Each tour page provides detailed information about the included activities to help you determine if a trip aligns with your abilities and preferences.
The beauty of our tours lies in their flexibility. In many cases, you have control over your level of physical exertion. For instance, on biking tours, you can opt for an e-bike or choose to skip certain rides if you need a break. Remember, activities on tour are never mandatory—you're always free to take a day off if you need it. Your Tour Director is there to discuss any specific needs or concerns you might have.
If you're unsure about which tour might be the best fit for your fitness level, our team is always available to provide guidance and answer any questions you may have.
We believe one of the best parts about traveling is eating, so we do everything we can to provide food (and recommendations) on your tour that reflects local cuisine and culture. Many of the hotels where you’ll stay have on-site restaurants that showcase the local flavors of the region you’re visiting.
To foster a sense of community among travelers, every EF Adventures tour kicks off with a Welcome meal and concludes with a Farewell meal. These shared dining experiences are perfect opportunities to bond with your fellow adventurers.
Your tour package always includes daily breakfast at your hotel. While the specifics may vary by destination and accommodation, most breakfasts are served buffet-style. Beyond breakfast, the number of included lunches and dinners depends on your specific itinerary. You can find this information in the "What's included" section of each tour page.
If you have any specific dietary restrictions or requirements, please let us know in advance. We'll do our best to accommodate your needs.
Water safety is an important consideration that varies depending on your destination. Your Tour Director will be your go-to resource for local water safety information, providing up-to-date advice for each location you visit.
To promote sustainability and reduce plastic waste, we encourage all travelers to bring a reusable water bottle. You'll be able to refill this from safe water sources throughout your trip. In some locations, your hotel may provide complimentary bottled water.
When in doubt about the safety of local tap water, it's always best to err on the side of caution. Opt for bottled or treated water to avoid any potential health issues that could disrupt your trip. Remember, staying hydrated is crucial, especially during active adventures, so always ensure you have access to safe drinking water.
While travel insurance isn't mandatory for our tours, we strongly recommend it. Most standard health insurance policies don't provide coverage when you're abroad, which could leave you vulnerable in case of unexpected events
Our Trip Protection plans are designed to offer comprehensive coverage for a variety of situations you might encounter while traveling. This includes protection for tour cancellation and interruption, coverage for lost or delayed baggage, and assistance in case of medical emergencies.
Given the active nature of our adventures, having robust travel insurance becomes even more crucial. It can provide peace of mind and financial protection in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Before your trip, we suggest you review your current health insurance policy to understand what, if any, international coverage it provides. If you find gaps in your coverage, consider adding our Trip Protection plan. Our team is always available to provide more details about our insurance options and help you make an informed decision to protect your adventure.
We take the safety of our travelers and their belongings seriously. Most of the hotels we partner with offer in-room safes or safety deposit boxes at reception, providing secure storage for your valuables.
During bus rides or activities, we recommend keeping important items with you or leaving them securely locked in your hotel room. Your Tour Director will provide location-specific safety advice throughout your journey, helping you make informed decisions about your belongings.
However, as with any travel, it's wise to exercise caution. We suggest not bringing unnecessary valuables on your trip and staying aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. Remember, the best approach is often to carry only what you need for each day, leaving other items secure in your hotel.
Essential documents include:
- Valid passport (with at least 6 months validity beyond your return date)
- Visa (if required for your destination)
- Travel insurance policy details
- Flight tickets and tour confirmation
- Copies of important documents (stored separately)
- Any required medication prescriptions
- COVID-19 vaccination record or test results (as per current regulations)
- Emergency contact information
When it comes to luggage for your adventure tour, less is often more. While most travelers will have one checked bag and one carry-on bag included with their EF Adventures flights, we recommend packing light and sticking to just a carry-on when possible. This approach helps avoid the hassles of delayed or lost luggage.
Remember, you'll be responsible for handling your own luggage throughout the tour, so it's crucial to only bring what you can comfortably carry. Always check your airline's specific restrictions for size and weight limits to avoid any surprises at the airport.
In addition to your main luggage, we recommend bringing a day pack. This smaller bag will be invaluable during hikes and other daily excursions, allowing you to easily carry essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and any other items you might need throughout the day.
